If there's a rebuild, do you trust AA to do it?

not to hijack the thread or anything... but anyone notice Thole continues to rip the cover off in Buffalo, AND Jiminez is back playing in Dunedin and off to a good start. Should be moving up to NH within a month?

Move Melky and promote Sierra
Move Johnson if there's a deal that nabs a comp pick ++ in value and put Drabek into the mix. (Hutch should be left until 2014 to start) 
Move a Oliver to Texas and promote Stroman.
Move Bonifacio & promote Andy LaRoche

In moving all these guys a sprinkling of B prospects and other useful players identified could be acquired.  We don't need replacements for them, because I identified their replacements."



Not sure about Stroman yet, he's suspended and will start upon return, I
don't think he's major league ready as a starter. Agree with all of the
other suggestions. The pitching depth will be better next year when
guys like Nolin, Stroman and maybe even Sanchez starting the year at AAA
and Hutchison and Drabek healthy. I would add Buehrle or Happ to the
above list of moves to make, although we know Buehrle's contract will be hard to move. Target should be the obvious position player holes, including bench of course.

The question posed by this thread remains though, is AA the guy to do it? Whether we agree with management or not, I don't think he'll be fired and will be given another year. If he at least makes some of the moves listed above, that's a good start. JPA can't be the starting catcher, but I have my doubts as to whether AA and his staff see him the way we see him.

Who do you see as his replacement?

Yea first they need a competent president. I kind of hope MLSE would partner with Rogers somehow, and have Tim Leiweke run the Jays too.

But anyway - how about Paul DePodesta, to throw a name out?

AA's good at circumventing rules, that's about it.

I don't have a preference. More important than anything is that the new GM is a smart guy who surrounds himself with other smart guys. That's really all that's happening in St. Louis, TB, and Texas. We simply can't have another GM come in here and surround himself with a bunch of old scouts while throwing out 2-7 grades on players with extensive major league data. When your GM doesn't use a computer and thinks Jeter and Delmon Young are "5" defenders, its time to fucking clean house. 

I don't trust him at all. I'm fine with him selling off players for young assets, which he seems reasonably effective at doing, but I have no faith in his ability to assemble a major-league roster. I really hope he's fired ASAP.
